The large family of HP Pavilion 15 laptops is based on 12th and 13th generation Intel Core processors or AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 series. This means that everyone can find the optimal model for themselves according to their functional needs and financial capabilities. Despite the different processors, graphics cards, memory, and disks, all HP Pavilion 15 have many cool features in common, which we will discuss in detail.

Thanks to the narrow side bezels, the 15.6″ screen takes up as much as 86 % of the top panel. The lower and upper bezels are slightly wider, as they hold the hinges and an HD webcam with two microphones to filter out background noise. The IPS matrix has a resolution of 1,920 × 1,080 and an anti-reflective coating, so you can work on your laptop even outdoors in sunny weather. And in low light conditions, the optional keyboard backlight with several brightness gradations will come in handy. There are a lot of ports and connectors on the ends: HDMI 2.0 video output for connecting monitors and TVs up to 4K, a microSD card reader for transferring photos from a mirrorless camera, and a 3.5 mm mini-jack for wired headphones. Cable Ethernet is not provided, but wireless Wi-Fi 6 is available.

Different USB standards are available – both the classic Type-A and the newfangled Type-C, which not only has a high bandwidth of 10 Gbps for connecting external solid-state drives, but can also optionally charge the laptop using Power Delivery technology. However, the model comes with a traditional 45 W AC power supply that charges the laptop from 0 to 50 % in just 45 min.

The built-in battery has a capacity of 41 Wh, which is enough to provide 8 h of battery life. The internal M.2 NVMe high-speed SSD capacity varies from 256 GB to 1 TB. The DDR4 RAM is 8, 12 or 16 GB, and in the latter two cases, dual-channel mode can be implemented. It accelerates the integrated Intel UHD Graphics, Intel Iris Xe, or AMD Radeon Vega graphics card especially significantly.

The youngest processor is the Intel U300, now called the Pentium. Then there is the Core i3, the 12th and 13th generation models differ only in frequency. The older Core i5 and Core i7 already have a larger number of additional energy-saving cores and a more powerful iGPU. The competing AMD Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, and Ryzen 7 have four, six, and eight cores, respectively, each divided into two virtual SMT threads.

The Ryzen 5000 and 7000 models differ in architecture – Zen 2 and Zen 3, with the latter being 20 % faster. Intel integrated graphics cards are traditionally better for video editing and support the progressive AV1 codec. AMD Radeon cards deliver more FPS in games. There are also configurations with a discrete GeForce MX550 with 2 GB of GDDR6 memory. The laptop is equipped with a second fan for it, although the single-fan versions are cool and quiet.

The stereo speakers are designed by the famous music company Bang & Olufsen, and the Bluetooth module allows you to connect a TWS headset. A Kensington lock is provided for protection against physical theft, and a software cryptographic module TPM and an optional fingerprint scanner are provided for software protection. The Windows 11 operating system can be installed directly from the factory or manually after purchasing the laptop.

The laptop case is partly metal and partly made of recycled ocean plastic to protect the planet’s ecology. There are five colors to choose from: Natural Silver, Warm Gold, Ceramic White, Fog Blue, and Forest Teal. A young student, a businessman, and an elegant lady will be able to choose an option according to their style or preferences. Finally, here is a quote from Bill Gates in 1984: «This is the only computer I would buy for my mother».
